Evanston IL:Is a permit required to install a swimming pool?
Any pool with a depth over 24" requires a permit. If your pool will be a temporary installation, submit permit application, plumbing worksheet and a plat of survey showing barrier (fencing) location and self-closing gate. If your pool will be a permanent installation, submit permit application, plumbing worksheet and plat of survey showing pool placement, dimensions, distance from property lines, barrier (fencing) locations and self-closing gate. Please review Appendix G of the International Residential Code for barrier requirements. Installation should follow manufacturer's instruction. This requirement also applies to temporary pools (i.e. inflatable pools) if the depth meets the 24" determining factor.
