Volunteers are incredibly valuable and play a huge role in the programs and services the city provides the Tempe community. There are lots of great programs, events and activities planned. We need you to help make them AMAZING!

Visit Tempe.gov for volunteering opportunities, both for one-day assignments, and ongoing projects.

ON-GOING VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES

Adaptive Recreation - Special Olympics Golf Partners – More Information

Golf partner volunteers are needed (those without disabilities) to pair up with Special Olympics athletes for weekly course play. We ask all volunteers to commit to the whole season (Aug. 22 - Oct. 31). Requirements: 1-2 hours of online training, love of golf, and ability to participate for the whole season.

CARE 7

Volunteers will provide 24-hour on-scene emotional support services and follow-up to community members facing trauma. The team focuses on the needs of the family and or individual while public safety personnel attend to law enforcement, medical emergency, and fire suppression needs.

Docent, Tempe History Museum 

Volunteers will become subject matter experts and learn Museum education principles that spark imagination in audiences of all ages.

Experience Corps

AARP Foundation Experience Corps is a community-based volunteer program that empowers people over 50 to serve as tutors to help students become better readers by the end of the third grade.

Bookstore Clerk, Friends of Tempe Public Library 

Friends of Tempe Public Library is a community-based non-profit organization that enhances the experience of the library through the Connections Café, learning classes and the library's bookstore.

Keep Tempe Beautiful

Keep Tempe Beautiful is a 501(c)3 non-profit, volunteer-run organization committed to inspiring and educating the community to take action in making Tempe a clean, green, and beautiful place to live.

Our vision is to keep Tempe a vibrant city where each neighborhood is a healthy, beautiful place to live, work and play.

We have three major goals: end littering, improve recycling, and the beautification of our city.

Are you looking for opportunities to volunteer in your community?

Tempe Center for the Arts (TCA) may have just what you are looking for!

Currently, we are in need of volunteers to assist as Gallery Docents.

Please note that we are in the process of revising our volunteer program for events and performances and more positions will be needed.

New program information will be available in the coming months.

Tempe Festival of the Arts

You can help make a difference!

As a non-profit, volunteers are crucial to the success of this community event. We continue to appreciate our returning volunteers and have open arms for those who volunteer with us for the first time. 

Each festival requires about 350 volunteers to help manage on-site functions and ensure a smooth event. We welcome individuals and groups. Sign up solo to meet new people, or sign up with your group to fulfill employers’ and organizations’ volunteer commitments. Not only will you meet new people but you will also have so much fun! Sign up to join the hospitality crew, Kid Block and much more. Volunteer Perks:

•    Receive an official Tempe Festival of the Arts Volunteer tee to be worn while volunteering

•    Free water and snacks

•    Free Parking 

Volunteer Opportunities:

Sign up to volunteer during the festival weekend. You can join the hospitality crew, Kid Block and much more.  Festival volunteer jobs are outside at our rain-or-shine event. We do not cancel our event due to rain, so please dress accordingly should it look like inclement weather.

Step 1:

Application & Online Orientation

Complete an online volunteer orientation. If you’re interested in working hands-on with our pets, you will also be required to take additional safety and animal handling classes.

Step 2:

Purchase Your Gear

To cover the cost of your gear and onboarding, there is a fee of $25.00. On your first shift, you’ll receive your shirt, name badge and necessary volunteer gear.

Step 3:

Find Where You’re Needed

After submitting your application, one of our volunteer coordinators will reach out within 3–5 days to find the best volunteer opportunity for your skills and interests.
